Personal Pedagogy
My teaching philosophy is anchored in the belief that meaningful learning occurs when students apply newly acquired methodologies to recognizable, real-world problems. Over more than two decades as an educator, I have found that exploratory, interdisciplinary learning is uniquely suited to meet both the diverse cognitive abilities and the socio-emotional needs of emerging scholars, particularly urban students who navigate systemic betrayals, institutional failures, and impossible survival compromises.
My goal is to cultivate a secure, empowering environment where students feel agency to explore diverse subject matter within a supportive peer community. To achieve this, I intentionally shift the traditional classroom dynamic away from performance competition and toward an intellectual laboratory.
